And that's the way it is.................

It was quite an interesting morning......this morning......it was....

I got up a little earlier than normal because Joshua decided he was going to wake on up. I gave him a few minutes to, you know, see if he was going to settle back down and go back to sleep. He didn't and it was 6am. I had to be up ANYway to get ready for work. So I got him on up and changed his diaper. I fixed his milk. I noticed we needed more bottle liners. He isn't interested yet in a sippy cup so I still put his milk in a bottle. I've tried several types of sippy cups, but he just isn't ready. So I'm not going to push him. He'll be ready when he gets ready. So ANYWAY, I decided to go to the grocery store. AND since it was still early, I checked to see what my husband wanted for breakfast. I didn't have time to actually fix breakfast and it's not that easy for him to fix his breakfast when he's chasing after our little one. But THAT is another post. I went and got the liners and brought back sausage, biscuits, grits, and bacon in one of those nice big styrofoam thingees that clamps down and "locks" into the hole. It smelled REALLY good. Well, my husband put the breakfast on the table and he had not sat down yet and I hadn't got MY part of the breakfast. And we had only blinked for probably 3 good seconds when I heard a moan. It came from my husband. I looked and it's one of those things where you watch this "movie" in s--l--o--w motion and you can't make it in time to do anything about what you're seeing. There in my sweet little boy's one hand was our breakfast. He had his little hand wrapped around the sides of the box s-l-o-w-l-y pulling it off. AND the little styrofoam thingee was open---- not closed. We didn't know whether to rush (which we really couldn't anyway because we just froze) or just slowly go over to him and possibly catch it before it hits the floor. Well, we did neither one. We watched our food, grits included, hit the floor. Upside down. Of course. hmmm. Ok. Well, the only thing I could do was just kneel down over there and pick up my son who was crying then, even tho we didn't holler or anything, and told him he was ok. He wasn't hurt like with hot grits or anything. But the whole incident scared him. For SOME strange reason, I wasn't irritated, mad, etc. I think my husband was more upset than me because he lost his breakfast in the carpet. It would've been another thing if it'd spilled over on lenoleum. It's easier to save, but grits seeped into the carpet. So we couldn't really use the 5 second rule or anything. The only thing that was left was the 3 biscuits that were only spared because they were in a plastic bag and the plastic bag wasn't intriguing enough for our little man.

All I could do was laugh about it because I understand that this is not the FIRST or the LAST time something is going to happen like that. There ARE things MUCH worse than having our breakfast land up on the floor. And that's just the way it is..............
