All He Wanted Was His Grits!

It was suppertime and I prepared Joshua some squash and some carrots along with some milk. Me, I just popped a small pizza in the oven. I forgot exactly what my husband ate........but he ate! About 30-40 minutes after we ate, my husband said, "I'm hungry again!" I just chalk it up for "sympathy pains." Being 14 weeks pregnant, I eat.......and OFTEN! Actually, more than often. It's like my little growing one eats and leaves me nothing! I'll just have to do like I did when I was expecting Joshua: eat 2 of everything. One for the baby, and one for me.

Anyway, I'm off the subject again.

My husband went into the kitchen and pulled out some grits that we'd gotten from the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge, TN. He prepared it with care, and even tossed cheese and sausage in there. After he poured it into his bowl, he was excited to be able to sit down and eat it.

Around the corner, our little Joshua spotted it: Daddy was getting ready to eat. Joshua held up his little arms and pointed to the grits. Daddy tried to explain to him TWICE that he probably wouldn't like those grits. They were Daddy's food.

Needless to say, Joshua ate the whole bowl of grits, minus the sausage. That's all my husband was able to eat. The sausage......It was a far cry from the wonderful grits that he so lovingly prepared for himself, but when you have a little boy looking up at you with those big brown eyes, you sacrifice. Know what I mean?

Anyway, I gave him a tiny bit of juice to wash all of the grits down. He was a HAPPY camper!

He slept well too.

My little guy once ate a whole bowl of cheese grits (the kind you make with heavy cream!) at a party, and even the real southerners were impressed! Your Joshua sounds like a hoot.

Hi Kristjana!

Yep, "hoot" is the word for him!! Isn't motherhood wonderful! I really do enjoy it. Just wish I could be at home with him all day instead of working outside the home. ick. But I try to make up for it somehow. I love your stories about Kenny!

Tell your husband to get use to it - anything that mine likes the boys love. I mean, big puffy heart loves it that he has to fight for it if he wants any.
You know once you have two little people it might be cheaper to stay home then the cost of day care for two plus all the gas etc. I'm just saying. :)

Hi Joanna,

That's something I'd LOVE to do is stay at home. I've been researching things I could do from home but haven't come up with the right thing yet. I'm just praying about now. I don't like the idea of a daycare. I realize for some people it's fine, but for me personally, I'm not up for it. We're trying to keep him as healthy as possible for as long as possible. So far, so good!
