My head just hasn't been up to it.

It's been several days since I've last posted. We've just had several "issues" at the house! Not bad, but just challenging. This past Thursday, I got home from work to find our son with a fever and very red cheeks!! As I was holding him, he just went limp. I'm thinking, he never does this. Then he raised back up, then plopped on my shoulder again. He just plain out looked like he didn't feel well, so I proceeded to hold him and fix supper (a chicken and macaroni and cheese pie). Then I remembered that there is ONE way to tell EXACTLY how he's feeling: feed him. He ate rather well. So, he's not too sick, but just yucky enough to fuss a little which is what I do when I don't feel well. I fuss because I've got tooooo much to do to get sick. Actually, so does he. He's busy around the house inspecting things. Walking, running, crawling, getting into cabinets, crawling up and down steps (only one step actually).

I had decided to stay home with Joshua the next day while my husband went out of town for a few hours. So it was during that time that I called the doctor to see what they said about the fever and the cheek thing. She said to really watch that because there's a chance the next thing could be a rash on the back of his arms or legs which would mean a viral infection which would mean that they really couldn't give him anything. A viral infection would just have to run it's course. Thank goodness I never saw a rash like she was talking about.

Then one of the previous days (you know how the days can all muddle together if ya don't watch), Joshua had fallen asleep on me after he ate supper. Well, after supper I always go ahead and give him a bath. Well, I took him to the bathroom, sat him on my lap, and started the water. He didn't budge. I took his clothes off. He didn't budge but just a teeny bit. My husband actually put him in his tub (since it's kinda hard for me to do that right now) and Joshua was STILL asleep. Poor little thing..........

But yesterday, Joshua started coughing. Uh-oh. Then here comes the sneezing that says we have a problem. The kind of sneezing that everytime he sneezes you have to grab tissues, and QUICK! EVERYTIME.

But I know that he'll be ok soon and running around there getting into everything as always! Which really doesn't bother me too bad. He keeps me exercising! I can't sit on my behind for long because he's got THINGS to do and PEOPLE to see; therefore, so do I!

Out of Commission

The other day when I was talking about the pollen and feeling pretty lousy, I went home from work around 5:30pm and checked for a fever. Sure enough 102 Degrees! Great! Just what I always wanted. This means that I can't have contact with my baby. I took some Tylenol and when my fever went down, I'd crawl out of the bed and sneak a pick at my little man. I've missed holding him and loving on him. But my husband has done a great job. He's given him his supper, bath, and rocked him to sleep. Normally that's my job. But my husband turned the camera on them tonight while I was laying in bed where I could see him (on my monitor) as Joshua drifted off to sleep.

They are treating me for strep throat. I don't know if I'll make it into work or not Monday and if I don't post quite as often, we all know why! I don't have a whole lot of strength. So ya'll say a prayer for me. Kay?

Ochoo Part II

I took off work yesterday to take Joshua to the Dr. I was mainly worried about the cough. I did damage years ago coughing so much! Anyway, the Dr. basically told me to continue what I was doing which is giving him 1/4 tsp of Pediatrics Robitussin every 6 hours. He told me to add Tylenol to the list of medicine. He said antibiotics dont work with colds.....that really colds are going to have to run their course.

Joshua was so good while the Dr was poking around on him. He just lay there and let him look in his nose, ears, thump on his chest and stomach.

We gave him the Tylenol Infant Drops when we got home. We gave him the Pediatrics Robitussin (Nighttime) around 8:30pm. He slept all night and woke up perky this morning. When he woke up, he wasn't coughing and didn't have a runny nose.

Achoo, wipe, cough........

Well, it happened. My sweet little one has SOMEthing. I don't know if it's allergies/pollen, or if it's a cold. Maybe just allergies. The pollen count is pretty high here in my neck of the woods. His little nose started running, he's sneezing out everything, and his cough doesn't sound great. But you know what, he's STILL smiling! He had a little problem in church yesterday and my husband had to take him out. He was dripping and he just wasn't a happy camper. I went to CVS yesterday to see what I could find him, and I DID find something, but then I read this morning somewhere to not buy over-the-counter stuff for babies sense it only temporarily relieves the problem instead of permanently relieves it. So for today, he'll still take 1/4 tsp of his medicine, but I"m calling the dr to see what they say. Joshua was playing in the floor when I left. I talked to my husband a few minutes ago and he said his coughing and sneezing/running nose seems to have slowed down a bit. I sure hope so!! He also told me that while Joshua was rolling around in his walker, he got a magazine off the table and leaned back as to just "chill" and was turning the pages and making sounds like he actually understood what he was looking at!! Cute, huh?!
